Challenger Deep was written by Neal Shusterman.
Caden Bosch is torn between his life on a ship, that is sailing towards Challenger Deep, the deepest point on earth, and his other life, where his friends and family start to notice his strange behavior.
I loved reading this book, not only because it gave me an insight of how Schizophrenia can feel for a person, but also because this book makes you feel something. You´re not reading this book like “Oh shit, Caden Bosch is super ill” you´re reading the story and you just feel super connected to Caden and that just makes you more aware of the fact that someone with a mental illness is not “different” or “weird”. And I think we should have way more books where the main character has a mental illness to spread this awareness further.
